initiation
In today's rapidly evolving world of data science, it is essential for consulting firms to stay up to date. This applies not only to the methods that are used, but also to the constantly changing regulations and standards that set the framework for working in this field. The cooperation between ainovi and the German Data Science Society (GDS) e.V. is a vivid example of how companies and non-profit organizations can drive innovations together and strengthen the data science community.
GDS e.V. — A network for innovation and continuing education
GDS e.V. is a non-profit association made up of academically trained data scientists from all over Germany. Its main goal is to promote the data science community through structured continuing education and a variety of events. Close cooperation with universities and global companies such as BMW, IBM and BASF enables GDS to drive innovative developments in data science and artificial intelligence. In doing so, it offers an extensive network of experts and supports both regional and central organizations in Germany.
Regional Priorities — The Rhine-Main Regional Group
Apart from nationwide events and collaborations, the German Data Science Society e.V. is currently setting up various regional structures in Berlin, Cologne, Stuttgart and Hamburg. The purpose of the regional groups is to connect data scientists in core industrial and academic areas. Local events are intended to promote exchange in person.
The Rhine-Main regional group of the GDS has already been established and is significantly supported by us. As co-organizers of the regional group, we regularly organize events in various formats to promote exchange between scientists, experts and interested parties. These are diverse and cover current developments such as generative & explainable AI, OpenData and the EU AI Act. The events provide an ideal platform for sharing knowledge, gaining new insights and expanding professional networks.
ainovi — Active participation and commitment
ainovi is not only a supporting member of the GDS, but is also represented by two active organizers from the Rhine-Main regional group. This committed participation reflects the importance we place on continuing education and exchange between industry and academia. By participating in the organization of this year's nationwide autumn meeting in Rhine-Main, bringing together the Executive Board, the supporting members and other data science enthusiasts from all over Germany, we are making a significant contribution to promoting dialogue and cooperation in the data science community.
Data Science Forum Rhein-Main
One example of promoting a local data science community is the first Rhine-Main Data Science Forum, which we were able to organize on 25.04.24 on behalf of the regional group in Frankfurt. The event was the prelude to further regular all-day events organized by the Rhine-Main regional group. Five speakers spoke about various topics in data science, including GenAI, geodata, anomaly detection in financial environments, as well as explainable ML models and AutoML. Our personal highlight was the interactive panel discussion, which raised critical debates regarding generative AI and the effects of the EU AI Act. The event was a great success and we are already looking forward to planning the next big event.

Conclusion
The cooperation between ainovi and the German Data Science Society demonstrates a successful collaboration that promotes both continuing education and innovative strength in the data science community. Through our involvement in the Rhine-Main regional group and active participation in important events, we are helping to bridge the gap between theory and practice and actively shape the future of data science.
